Saddleback Ranch

About

Saddleback Ranch Horseback Ride and Cattle Drive. Enjoy views of the Flattops, Sleeping Giant and Mt Werner. Let us show you where our ancestors homesteaded the ranch more than 100 years ago. We have horses for all riding abilities.

The first cattle were brought to Routt County in 1871 to utilize summer pastures. The Iacovetto family has passed our agriculture heritage through five generations. Spend the day with us as we move cattle, check for sickness, bring in strays and make sure that everything on the ranch is doing well. Our cattle drive rides are unique in that they are not "nose to tail" trail rides; nothing here is "staged" and day to day tasks do vary. Cattle drives are a time where you can get back to life's essentials. The horse riding pace on cattle drives is usually slow, making the cattle drive a wonderful experience, allowing for time to gain respect for the animals and learn a little about yourself in the process, making a four legged friend or two.

Driving Directions

Take HWY 40 West out of Steamboat 10 miles. At mile marker 122 take a left onto County Road 178, which will turn into County Road 179. Follow County Road 179, 3 miles across the rail road tracks, over the river and pass a housing development, the ranch is on the left side of the road.
