Winter Horseback Rides

Enjoy an amazing journey through the Colorado scenery on a guided horseback ride. This favorite pastime gives you, your friends and family the opportunity to ride through snow-blanketed aspen trees and valleys.

Saddleback Ranch

Join us on a 2 hour horseback ride over the hills and through the tree lined ridges of snowy Saddleback Ranch. Gaze at the Flat Tops, Sleeping Giant and Mt. Werner. Let us show you where our ancestors built their homestead and ranched more than 100 years ago. After your ride, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies, then try your hand at calf roping. Sorry no tandem horseback rides.

Saddleback Ranch provides front door transportation to and from the ranch in brand new luxury vans. Saddleback Ranch is located just outside the town of Milner, a 15 mile drive from Steamboat Springs.

If you wish to drive to the ranch, take HWY 40 West out of Steamboat 10 miles. At mile marker 122 take a left onto county road 178, which will turn into County Road 179. Follow County road 179, 3 miles across the rail road tracks, over the river and past a housing development, the ranch is on the left side of the road.

Horseback riders are required to call Saddleback Ranch upon arrival to confirm reservation, pick-up location and riding ability.

Offered twice daily during peak season with pickups at 10:30a and 1:00p. Pick up at 10:30a only during non-peak season.

Peak Season: Dec 18 - Jan 8 / Jan 12-16 / Feb 17-20 / March 4-24

Del's Triangle 3 Ranch

For a truly unique experience, take a break from skiing and go for a ride in the snow! Let our surefooted horses guide you through the snow-covered aspen trees in the silence of Winter's simple beauty. Once you leave the corrals you will not see a sign of civilization until your return. We've lived in the valley for 6 generations and have been outfitting and riding horses through the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness area, located in the Routt National Forest, since 1962. We recommend you wear ski clothing for the winter rides.

18 miles north of the town of Steamboat just past historic Clark, Colorado.

A shuttle is available to transport you to the ranch and back to town and pickup times are 9am and 1pm at the Gondola Transit Center at the mountain.

Head west(US 40) out of Steamboat Springs. One mile past town, look for a 7-11 store. Turn right (north) at the stoplight. Follow this road (129) for roughly 18 miles along the Elk River to the town of Clark. Turn left just past the Clark Store (that's the whole town!) onto Road 62. This road forks twice--always go right. Go 2 1/4 miles and look for our corrals on the right. Park by the log home on the left. Arrive early to sign in and adjust your stirrups.

Closed on Sundays, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Rides scheduled by reservation only. If you book early, please call to comfirm your reservations.
