Steamboat's bike network has gained an internationally known reputation. National, Olympic, World and Tour de France champions have all challenged themselves against the technical aspects, elevation and mountain environment of Mt. Werner. More than 50-miles of trails at the Steamboat ski area, routes across town and hundreds more across Routt County await riders of all ability levels and ages.
Steamboat Bike Park
A new era in mountain biking has started to take shape at the Steamboat Ski Resort as the much anticipated Steamboat Bike Park comes to life this summer. The Steamboat Bike Park, featuring downhill, freeriding bike terrain brings new high intensity biking adventure to the mix of cross country mountain fun. The Park is totally new and different from what riders have seen or experienced at Steamboat.
Gravity Logic, the world leader in the design of progressive mountain bike trails, assisted the Steamboat crew in developing its freeride trails. The team at Gravity Logic is behind the best mountain biking parks in the world, including Whistler/Blackcomb and Winter Park.
Currently, the Steamboat Bike Park features five downhill trails including Tenderfoot, Sitz, Wrangler Gulch, E-Z Rider and Buckin' Bronc. An additional downhill trail, Rustler's Ridge, is currently under construction and slated for completion in July 2012.
The expert trails contains step down rollers, wooden berm/wall ride, large dirt berm, ten-foot wooden ladder step down, step up, rollers and a line of nine table-top dirt jumps in rapid succession. The green trails feature dirt berms, banked turns and wooden slat and ladder bridges.
A Bike Access ticket is required to access the Steamboat Bike Park downhill trails, open during gondola operations, as well as utilize the Gondola for bike uplift. The resort will rent top of the line Kona Freeride bikes, as well as freeriding armor and apparel.
This is just the beginning. The evolution will continue and the Steamboat Bike Park will open an entirely new way to enjoy the mountain over the coming years.
