Steamboat Springs is a well known for its world class skiing, scenic hiking trails, thrilling biking trails and more. During the summertime, Steamboat also hosts a wide variety of exciting events for everyone. Watch over 40 hot air balloons rise above the early morning mist during the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo, take a stroll down Lincoln Avenue at the Mustang Roundup with over 400 classic Ford Mustangs or attend a breathtaking fireworks display on the 4th of July at Historic Howelsen Hill. Designed to raise awareness for and protect the 270-mile Yampa River in northwest Colorado, the last remaining major free flowing river in the seven-state Colorado River basin, the event promises a fun-filled weekend for the whole family, with slalom and downriver races, a kids activity zone, freestyle competition, dog events and more. More than 400 Mustang owners from Rocky Mountain Mustang clubs will convene in Steamboat for activities, including a timed event on Friday and a "Show and Shine" on Lincoln Avenue on Saturday. Spectators are welcome at the Meadows parking lot located at the corner of Mt. Werner Road and Pine Grove Road for Friday’s Autocross. Over 180 Ford Mustangs compete in this timed event. For over 100 years Steamboat has celebrated Independence Day in true western fashion. Cowboys’ Roundup Days celebrates the Western Heritage native to the Yampa Valley with events for the entire family. Kick back in your boots at several community events including, a community all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, the annual parade down Lincoln Avenue, Pioneer Days Block Party featuring a free community concert and root beer floats for the kids, evening rodeo, and one of the states largest fireworks display. Join us for the most anticipated and colorful weekends of the summer. The Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and the Annual Art in the Park have become a staple of Steamboat in the Summertime. On Saturday, start your day at Bald Eagle Lake for a spectacular early-morning affair as you watch over 40 hot air balloons rise softly from the mist and drift over the Yampa Valley. Last season the Steamboat Springs Triathlon was the hot new Olympic Distance Triathlon of the season and joined the Colorado Triathlon Tour! The race will start with a 1.5k swim in Lake Catamount, followed by a 24.8 mile bike ride through the Yampa Valley, and finishes with a 10k run around Lake Catamount. THE Race is back! The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is the most demanding bike race ever held on American soil, with racers experiencing breathless altitudes, day after day. The race is on the level of the Tour de France, bringing the high speeds, danger and adrenaline of professional biking to elevations over 2 miles high in some of the most picturesque terrain in the world—the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The Steamboat Springs FREE Summer Concert Series is a Steamboat summer tradition with five free concerts throughout the summer. Come down to the Howelsen Hill amphitheater, in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs, for a night of FREE live music. Don’t forget your picnic blanket, chair and dancing shoes! The free concerts start around 5:00 p.m. with an opening band and then the main act to follow. There will be food vendors, kids activities and beer sales at the concert. The Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series is the most successful weekly rodeo in the country. While the roots of rodeo in this modest little Northwestern Colorado ranch town/world class ski resort trace back over 100 years, the humble beginnings of the weekly rodeo were in the mid 1970's as the "Friday Night Jackpot." All performances are held at Romick Arena located in the Howelsen Hill Park Complex owned by the City of Steamboat Springs. The 2012 Steamboat Springs Running Series continues its dedication to the pursuit of running and bringing people together. This year's series includes miles of challenging runs from 400 yards to 100 miles, all on the spectacular Colorado terrain you've come to expect. Our races are for everyone, so come out for a great day whether you are a racer or a walker. It's an achievement to complete any of the courses, and many races will have prize drawings. The Mainstreet Market is in its 8th year and has about 75 booths per week. The market is located on 6th Street at Lincoln Avenue in downtown Steamboat Springs on Saturday’s throughout the summer. The Market is the perfect first stop and launching place for a day browsing in our local stores, eating in our restaurants, or listening to the live music on the courthouse lawn during the market.
