The Steamboat Springs Running Series has been an integral part of the Steamboat Springs community for 23 years. We are committed to hosting fun, competitive, affordable, family-friendly events for runners and walkers of all ages, types, and abilities. We are a 13 race series with events ranging from flat, fast, road 5k’s to rugged, mountain, ultra marathons. Each race in our series donates a portion of it’s proceeds to a local non-profit in the Yampa Valley.
We’ve built our series around a “no-frills” concept, and put running and community first.

Hayden Cog Run

The Hayden Cog Run is one of the longest consecutively run races of the Steamboat Springs Running Series and in the state of Colorado! This is a Routt County Classic held in the small town of Hayden Colorado 25 minutes west of Steamboat.
Spirit Challenge

The Spirit Challenge is a long-standing race in the Steamboat Springs Running Series, and gives runners a chance to get those feet moving after a long winter in the Yampa Valley. Come out and support this fun local race!
Howelsen Hill Trail Run

Let the trail races begin! This is a challenging trail run on the scenic single track trails of historic Howelsen Hill, Steamboat’s outdoor playground. The trails of Emerald are beautiful this time of year with abundant aspen trees and wildflowers.
Mountain Madness

The Mountain Madness Half Marathon joins the Hayden Cog and 10K at 10,000 feet as one of the oldest races in Steamboat Springs and the Running Series. The Mountain Madness course will take runners along beautiful county roads with sweeping views of the Ski Area and the Yampa River, and is held over 4th of July weekend.
Hahn's Peak Hill Climb

This trail race is a new event that started in 2017 at the base of Hahns Peak in North Routt County. Running this course started with a few hardcore North Routt locals meeting at the beautiful Cabins at Historic Columbine every 4th of July. From there, they would race to the summit and fire outlook of Hahns Peak, once an active volcano with an elevation of 10,839 & 360 degree panoramic views like no other. Now it’s time to share this amazing course with all of you.
Spring Creek Memorial Run

The Spring Creek Memorial Run is held on the beautiful Spring Creek trail with wildflowers and Aspen trees next to bubbling Spring Creek. The 9.5 mile race is run on an up and down scenic loop on primitive trail, two track, single track and briefly on forest service road. This race is held in memory of Patty Brenner Hagberg who was struck and killed by a truck along the lower part of the trail in 1991. This race should remind all of us the importance of sharing multi-purpose use trails.
Continental Divide Trail Run

16 mile and 50k amazing trail race from Fish Creek Falls over to the ski area via the mountain view trail. One not to miss! Race caps at 150 runners: pre-register online. Races will begin at Fish Creek Falls parking area at the top of Fish Creek Falls Road.
10K at 10,000 Feet

Voted best 10k in the state of Colorado by Colorado Runner Magazine in 2010! This is a challenging trail run with beautiful terrain and breathtaking scenery. The 10K race begins at 10,000 ft at the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass. The course begins by heading uphill on USFS dirt roads and 2 track, and then heads downhill on single-track, ending on a cross country single-track. The total elevation gain and loss are about ~1,200 feet each.
Emerald Mountain Trail Run

This races offers two distances on Emerald Mountain, 12k (ends up being closer to 7.75 miles long) and a 5k. This scenic course will begin at the base of Howelsen Hill and tour Emerald Mountain through aspen lined single track. Hikers are welcomed in the 12k.
Foundry Halloween 5K
